I don’t want to go off on a rant here, but…

Jim: Things have been a bit serious around here lately. Time to loosen the ties. This blog was set up to recreate our discussions over Guinnesses - here’s some the lighter things I would say if I were back in the States and hanging out at our bar.

Cynthia McKinney… really, what the hell do you have to do to get thrown out of Congress? And Nancy Pelosi, saying we should not “make a big deal of this.” Nice going, Ms. Minority Leader. I’ve seen bigger balls on eunuchs.

Oh, good. A book on how to save conservatism from a guy who endorsed John Kerry. The GOP base is aquiver with excitement.

So - if you’re looking for work and really big on longshots, I hear Katherine Harris is hiring. She’s only recently accepted the resignations of her chief political strategist, director of field operations, campaign manager, campaign press secretary, campaign treasurer, her pollster, media consultant, national financial director, and a traveling aide. However, the office janitorial staff has pledged, “we’re in it for the long haul.”

Cam: Andrew Sullivan writing a book about conservatism is kinda like me writing a book about gay pride. I’m sure I could do it, but I’m not sure how accurate it would be.

And as long as we’re ranting, can I please mention this story? I don’t think our schools should be “value neutral” towards the American flag. It’s Old Glory. It’s the Star Spangled Banner. When we get to a point that we can’t wave it, or wear its colors for fear of offending people, it’s time to become a little loud.
