Cartoons, South Park, and Mohammed

Jeez guys, it’s been four days since we wrote anything here? That will not do.

Sean Hackbarth notes that the issue of Free Inquiry has been out for a week now, and so far, no Barnes and Nobles have been torched for daring to carry the Muslim cartoons.

Something tells me we won’t see Comedy Central’s studios set ablaze after Wednesday’s “South Park” episode either. Maybe it’s because Matt and Trey have already depicted Mohammed without any outcry. Or maybe it’s because the nutters have spent themselves on the Danish cartoons.

Having said that, I’ll still watch. Not really because of the cartoon controversy, but because I too find “Family Guy” to be completely overrated. I’m with Cartman on this one.

Marshall: Okay. First, let’s get something straight. Family Guy is among the best shows on television these days. And anyone who says differently around here is going to end up like Kenny.

Why are recent depiction of Mohamed being met with yawns? Not to be flip, but I’m not sure I care. The fact is that this issue already touched off enough gratuitious violence to last us a decade. And that sent a powerful message to non-Muslims about that religion’s views of tolerance and the value of life.

Cam says: After reading your response in the post above, I can only assume that you’re either being contrary for the sake of being contrary, or I don’t know you like I thought I did.

Family Guy one of the best shows on television? Your good taste in scotch, wine, and women apparently doesn’t extend to tv shows.
