Marshall,

I'm no DC expert, but wanted to stop and wish you well in London. I hope this is a good career-builder for you and/or Mrs. Manson.

I would visit the Lincoln, Vietnam and Korean Memorials at night. I would go visit John Boswell at the "Off the Record" bar at the Hay Adams. I would probably go have a steak at the 19th Street Palm Restaurant, just to look at the drawings on the wall. I would go visit the Round Robin bar, walking through the lobby of the Willard where the term "lobbyist" was coined. And I'd check out Eastern Market one last time.

Oh boy, moving is fun. I understand where you're coming from since I recently composed my own list of stuff Keith and I have to do before I move to Philly and we probably never take the time to come back.

Mount Vernon, Montpelier, Monticello, Gunston Hall, Ash Lawn-Highland, Old Post Office, Spy Museum, Holocaust Museum, Cryptologic Museum, Fort Washington, Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Main Treasury Building, Air & Space at Dulles, Archives

I'm sure there's more. We've done quite a bit on the list already, but we'll likely go back and do them one last time.

Go read -- REALLY read -- the inscriptions at the Lincoln Memorial, then take about 20 minutes on a warm spring day to sit on the steps and just stare out at the Mall. It'll remind you of how awesome you thought the place was when you first arrived -- and, on balance, how great it still is today.

Couple things:

- Ben's Chili Bowl. No, really. The half-smoke is an artisan production no other city handles.
- Make the drive around the Capitol, then up to the Jefferson and Lincoln, well after dark. The way they're lit up....it's special.
- I'm also a fan of a baseball game at Camden Yards
- Maybe a trip down to the Air & Space one last time?
- Spy Museum.
