During youth, a person’s epidermis stretches and holds large amounts of moisture. This is due to the levels of fibers called elastin and a protein, collagen, contained in the dermis. In aging process the dermis loses collagen and elastin. It is the reason why the skin becomes less elastic and stretchy, as well as less thick. The dermis begins to have difficulty moving adequate amounts of moisture up to the epidermis. The epidermis starts to sag, and wrinkles formation.

In order to prevent premature wrinkle and other sign of aging process on skin please take care your skin properly. People who moisturize regularly or whose skin produces larger quantities of sebum will not suffer from wrinkles until a later age. Prevention is crucial when controlling the signs of aging; once they start showing up, it is much more difficult to slow down or reverse this inevitable progression.

Do not wash your skin too often. Our skin has its natural barrier oils and moisture that protect against wrinkles. Water can strip the skin natural oil; if you wash the skin too often you will wash away the skin natural protection. Choose a gentle soap or cleanser while cleansing your face.

Staying out of the sun is a key to wrinkle prevention, as it will keep the youthful look to the skin for years longer than experienced by those who are regular sunbathers. Do not forget to wear sunscreen if you must go out in the sun. Choose skin-care products with a built-in sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15. Also, be sure to select products that block both UVA and UVB rays.

Do not smoke. This habit dries out your skin, which makes it less elastic and more prone to wrinkles. If you want to prevent wrinkles and reclaim that youthful glow, stop smoking and stay away from second hand smoke whenever possible.
