teen acne

Acne is not a life threatening problem but a major psychological one for teenagers.  It’s the bane of a teenager’s existence. Teens have ruddy impressions of teens with acne.  Teens suffering from acne can end up living ongoing lives and fail in social interaction, jobs or at school.

You can stop blaming greasy food or those dirty gym clothes for your teen’s breakouts and put the blame where it belongs—on biology.  Because acne, even mild or moderate cases, are a medical condition, caused by the hormonal changes going on in a teen’s body.  Hormones have been found to play a role in the formation of acne, as the gland responsible for the secretion of sebum is hormonally controlled. Just like anything else, it’s important to understand that acne is a normal medical condition and they’re not doing anything wrong.

Stress, although not the primary cause, may cause acne.  Researchers measured the teens’ self-reported stress levels and acne severity at a time of high stress (just before midyear exams) and at a time of low stress (two months after the end of exams).  The results showed during times of low stress, the acne breakouts were much less severe than times of high stress. Stress relief may just be the best acne treatment ever.

Acne can be embarrassing and painful, and in some cases it can be severe enough to be disfiguring or a cause of more serious health problems. See your doctor or dermatologist for advice if your pimples fail to clear up within six weeks or you have severe acne. It will prevent the formation of horrible acne scar.
