Collagen is a type of protein. Fibrous in nature, it connects and supports other bodily tissues, such as skin, bone, tendons, muscles, and cartilage. In humans, collagen is said to comprise 1/15 of our total body weight; playing an extremely important role in our bodies. For example, approximately 90% of the fibrous material in skin’s dermal layer is collagen. Collagen is a natural protein that helps give the skin its shape, smoothness, and resilience.
Aging is an unalterable and inescapable process. Aging is, of course, a natural and inevitable process. We can only sort of delay it, but never stop it altogether. As a person ages, however, their collagen levels will diminish, leading to the onset of wrinkles and creases. Some wrinkle creams contain kinetin or copper peptides which can stimulate the collagen production.
Other wrinkle treatment which is base on collagen production is collagen filler technique. There are two kinds of collagen that can be used human collagen or bovine derived collagen. Human collagen can stay longer than bovine derived collagen. Injectable human collagen may last for 6 months but bovine derived collagen will last maximum of 3 months.
Collagen injection may seem to be an expected way to plump up the skin and generate an appearance of youth, without having to undergo surgery. After following the collagen filler, the skin will be checked after 2-3 days and 4 week later to make sure that no inflammation has emerged.
The dermatologist will use a fine needle to insert collagen filler into the skin. The patient may experience redness and soreness that will be disappeared within days. In order to reach the good result and avoid adverse reactions, make sure the procedure is done by professional dermatologist.
